SuperKids TherHappy

SuperKids TherHappy was founded in response to the need for a complete wellness model for children.

Our intensives incorporate Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) as the cornerstone for significant transformations.

Dr. Callie and Miss Jenn will use their practical knowledge of movement and handling techniques to improve your child’s quality of life and empower your family in a calm and caring environment.

SuperKids’ mission is never to give up on unlocking your child’s potential and guiding them to achieving their THRIVE!

What is DMI?

Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) is a therapeutic approach utilized in physical and occupational therapy to assist children with motor delays in enhancing automatic postural responses and advancing towards developmental milestones.

DMI aims to elicit specific active motor responses from children through designated dynamic exercises prescribed by therapists.

This holistic intervention integrates the latest neurorehabilitation research, technologies, and techniques.

DMI promotes neuroplasticity to encourage the formation of new neural connections and the achievement of motor milestones.

This is a 2x day wellness service with 45 minute sessions for 1-3 weeks.

DMI Focuses On…

  • Dynamic Movement Intervention is a therapeutic approach designed to enhance a child's gross motor skills, such as crawling, walking, and jumping. It employs active and engaging exercises that encourage movement patterns, promoting strength, coordination, and balance necessary for mastering these fundamental physical activities.

  • DMI emphasizes gradual progression by introducing increasingly complex movements as the child masters each level, thereby promoting continuous motor skill development. This method relies on structured, repetitive exercises that build on previous achievements, ensuring a steady enhancement of the child’s physical capabilities.

  • Dynamic Movement Intervention prioritizes alignment and postural control by engaging children in targeted exercises that enhance their ability to maintain proper body positioning. These activities are designed to strengthen core muscles and improve balance, enabling children to develop a stable foundation for more complex movements.

  • DMI emphasizes expanding a child's range of motion through carefully structured activities that gently stretch and mobilize joints and muscles. This approach not only enhances flexibility but also promotes the ability to perform a wider variety of movements with greater ease and efficiency.

  • Dynamic Movement Intervention targets balance by engaging children in exercises that challenge and improve their stability and coordination. Through these activities, children learn to control their body movements more effectively, enhancing their ability to maintain equilibrium during both static positions and dynamic actions.

  • DMI emphasizes functional movements by teaching children to perform exercises that mimic everyday activities, thereby improving their ability to execute tasks with greater ease and efficiency. This approach ensures that the skills developed are directly applicable to daily life, enhancing independence and overall quality of life.

  • Dynamic Movement Intervention fosters somatosensory development by incorporating exercises that stimulate the sense of touch and proprioception, enhancing a child's awareness of their body in space. These activities promote the integration of sensory information, crucial for refining motor skills and coordinating movements with precision.

  • DMI aims to modify tone, integrate primitive reflexes, and correct abnormal patterns of movement through specific, targeted exercises that encourage normal motor development. By repetitively practicing these tailored movements, children can develop more typical postural and movement patterns, reducing reliance on atypical reflexes and improving overall motor function.

  • Dynamic Movement Intervention supports global development by engaging children in a comprehensive range of activities designed to simultaneously enhance motor skills, cognitive abilities, and sensory processing. This holistic approach ensures that progress in one area supports and reinforces advancements in others, promoting balanced and integrated developmental outcomes.

Who can Benefit from DMI?

Regardless of level of cognition and extent of neurological deficit or damage, affected children benefit from DMI motor intervention as it pertains to stimulating neuroplasticity in the developing brain.

DMI intervention can start as early as 1 to 2 months of age.

Children diagnosed with any type of motor delay including conditions such as; Down Syndrome, Cerebral palsy, global developmental delay, hypotonia, chromosomal abnormalities/genetic disorders, spinal cord lesions or acquired brain injury may benefit from this form of therapy.

Children born prematurely can also benefit from this therapy because it stimulates significant neuroplastic changes in the developing brain.
